Support the Prospect House & Civil War MuseumPhilanthropy is one of the oldest traditions of this country. Our operations, collections, expertise and web site are all the products of our members’ generous contributions. Some give to preserve, others to enhance, and some simply to invest in connecting families and advancing history.
The Prospect House & Civil War Museum is a tax-exempt 501 (c)(3) nonprofit organization (tax ID #273631846) and gifts are tax-deductible to the full extent of the law. Like most small nonprofits we do not collect enough through admission fees to cover our operating costs. Your tax-deductible gift helps us maintain the house and our remarkable collection of artifacts.

The Annual Fund supports the Museum’s fundamental operating expenses. Your gift directly impacts the Museum’s resources and services. Your Annual Fund donation is unrestricted. This provides the greater flexibility needed to plan and expand on future developments. In an effort to keep our membership fees low, we utilize Annual Fund donations to offset expenditures.
You may be able to double your gift through a matching gift program available through your former or current employer. Contact your Human Resource Department to check for eligibility.
One of the simplest ways to support the future of the Prospect House is through a bequest included in your will. The simplest form is an Outright Bequest in which you designate the specific asset or amount of money you wish to bequeath.
Descendants of Prospect House
An exclusive group of donors who can trace their lineage back to James A. "Cap" Colehour, "Descendents of Prospect House Charter Members" have donated funds that paid for rebuilding and recovering furniture and much needed signage.
